Carola Sitjas I Bosch

Coming from a family dedicated to hospitality as owners of La Quadra (www.laquadracalella.com) a very peculiar place (between a traditional tavern and a disco specialised in jamón and sangría) with more than 60 years in a small and touristic seaside village 50 km from Barcelona, I studied a degree in business and a degree in piano at the Conservatory of Liceu.

Although La Quadra is not a restaurant and it is a very popular bar, my parents were gourmets and always shared their passion for food with me visiting at the same time traditional and fine-dining restaurants from all over Catalonia and Spain such as elBulli, Can Fabes, Arzak, Zuberoa, Zalacaín, etc. but also travelling through Europe to restaurants such as L’Ambroisie, Ledoyen, Georges Blanc, Dal Pescatore, L’Hôtel de Ville with Rochat, etc.

So, when I was 18 years, in parallel, I studied Sommelier at the University of Barcelona and then the Diploma of WSET in London.

After working few years on the wine business as a Brand Ambassador of Artadi winery and some of the wineries it imports as Chave, Perrin, Louis Jadot, Yquem or Legras; and being part of some wine tasting panel and jury of Catalan magazines and awards, I also felt the interest on studying about cuisine on a self-taught way and I started to write Tast a Tast (www.tastatast.cat) in 2014.
